okay
I have vdr and xbmc pvr runing fine and nvidia card ( my nvida card do not have sound tru hdmi)
but when i install vdr and compile xbmc on the same mashine (ubuntu 64) whit my ati radion 3200 hd card i get
1) vdr runing fine. can se dvbs
2) xbmc runs fine. and it imports the vdr epg data
but when i turn on live tv i get sound from the channel but no picture only some flashing gray and black.
any one know how to fix this ?

hello,
in video option (in system) try to set the rendering option to software and not to automatic ! (i had this problem with my ATI and not with the NVIDIA)

I use linux xbmc pvr-testing2 builds from Henning Pingel's PPA.
When VDR cannot tune to a channel (for example because of weak signal), all latest xbmc pvr-testing build freeze. The xbmc.log file would be like this:
where the process hangs (no response) and you have to kill -9 xbmc.bin
The last version it works for me is: pvr-testing-18~hepi-karmic26177+9
With this build after 5 seconds, xbmc displays a dialog "Channel cannot be played" and it doesn't hang.
The xbmc.log from pvr-testing-18~hepi-karmic26177+9 follows:
