could an advanced setting be enable to shut off the auto plugin sources, per section would be best. or the aability to delete the source permanately.

the reason, at least on xbox, you can add the plgins://programs/ source with a source to eg e:\apps and they are all in one nice list. so it's redundant.

I believe the reason it's automatic is to reduce the burden on the user.

This will all be a moot point once the video library is configurable, but admittedly that is looking further and further away!

An advancedsetting in the meantime might be useful I guess.
