Windows Vista Remote

Question
Hey guys,
I am new to the whole XBMC game but am loving what it has to offer.
I am setting it up with my windows vista machine in my lounge room with a projector.
The final step I need to take is to get a remote and receiver for it. I am just wondering, is there a particular remote I should be looking at purchasing to experience the full functionality of XBMC or would a standard MCE one do the job fine?

Cheers

If you're going to run Vista, any generic MCE remote will do.
If you're going to run XP, spend the extra $20 and get an MS MCE remote.
The difference is the receiver drivers - Vista will pick up anything, but XP only likes the MS one, and getting a generic to work in XP is a pain in the ass.

I'm thinking of getting a remote to my XBMC windows setup too.
Currently there's not that many PC remote control kits available, so it sounds like one has to try to get a Vista MCE remote to work.

So has anyone tried getting these to work with XBMC in Windows XP?
  • Philips SRM5100 4in1
  • Philips RC197

I know getting a MCE XP remote would be a better idea, but those are not simply available any more where I live.

I've also concidered on getting a USB-UIRT or Tira-2.1 and some generic remote with that. But that would cost too much (like 70$ !!! with delivery).

Oh, and I only have USB ports, so no serial port IR module suits for me
