Just saw it... very interesting. Does the Plex crew share their developement with XBMC?

Not really no, most of their additions go into the closed source media server. but since this looks like it's based on despotify it can't be closed (unless they break the license). so if anyone get the sources the chances for someone to add it (official dev or not) will be higher.

Seing it's probably a plugin for the media server it might not be usable but without sources thats just guesses

Cheers,
Tobias

Plex's implementation is based on Openspotify:
http://github.com/noahwilliamsson/openspotify

Among the comments I seen this conversation:
Quote:Q:
- How is the quality? Is there an option in this plug-in to play higher bitrate? As it is in settings in the spotify app?

A:
- There is no option to set bitrate. It uses the direct download option via despotify-derived code, so I would assume you get the high quality, but I’m not positive.

So "despotify-derived code" means Openspotify.

There's a guy doing a python wrapper for libspotify. Maybe something to look at?

http://code.google.com/p/pyspotify/

I looked at the code but my python knowledge is at about 1 of 100.
