I just compiled the svn version of xbmc according to the wiki page. Playing my audio CD worked before (with official 8.10 Atlantis), but now when I insert the disc, the HTPC starts reading it and then xbmc dissappears and leaves the grey and naked X-server on the screen.
I'm using an server 8.10 ubuntu on an ATI790GX onboard VGA with catalyst 8.12/9.1.

Does anybody else have this problem?

I'm not exactly sure how subversion works, but I believe that's the version of the XBMC that's on the repo, not necessarily the one that's currently installed on your system.

It should be in your log file located in /var/tmp, very close to the top.

you mean this xbmc-xbmc.log file? It's 34kB big - too much to post here. I'll have a look.

Yes, that's the one, it'll be very early on, I think within the first 40 lines or so, I don't recall exactly. Don't let the size intimidate you.

That's great, now how about some more info about the audio cd that you are playing. Is it a commercial CD, home burnt CD. What type of audio is present? Standard 2 channel, wav, a3c, dts?

Its a commercial CD "Morcheeba: Parts of the process".
I now tried a home burnt audio cd - funny, this cd plays right now.

Is this such a damn copy protection that kills xbmc?

Edit: tried another commercial CD "the prodigy: their law" - it plays ok
commercial "gorillaz: demon days" - played fine, but pressing "next track" on my rc I could skip the first few tracks but then xbmc crashed again. See the log
