Hi,

I hope someone can give some pointers or tell me if this is a lost cause :-)

I have XBMC installed as per the minimal install instructions using Ubuntu 8.10 Server. I have an old ATI Radeon 7200 installed on a ECS K7S5A mobo with a 1GHz Athlon.

The system worked fine while I had it connected to a monitor but now that I have it connected to only a TV via s-video or composite I lose any display after the initial splash screen. There is a flash of random video memory after about 23 seconds and then nothing. I can't even ping the machine let alone ssh in and see any logs.

Can anyone give any hints or help as to why a monitor connected via vga works but not a TV?

I can get into the PC when exhibiting the same symptoms if I specify an explict vga= mode on the kernel line in GRUB but I don't see anything specific in the logs. Mind you, I'm not sure what to look for. I'm guessing it's an X conf problem.

I got the Xorg.0.log for the TV only boot. It seems the same as a good boot but only up to an early point:
