(Nearly) empty musicdb.xml file after export
#1
When I export the music library, the resulting musicdb.xml file contains no information on the library at all and is comprised of exactly:

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<musicdb />

I have tried to export with my all my music in the library and with just a single album in the library, the result is always as above. Exporting as individual files results in no output at all.

I have attempted this with both the released version of XBMC for Mac, the svn version 18548 as well as the latest version of Plex - all produced the same result.

The log from XBMC svn for the section during the export attempt is:

http://pastebin.com/m49ca46c2

I've also looked for the syntax of the XML file online but have found nothing (other than some devs mentioning that the syntax is undocumented!)

I suppose if I had the syntax I could manually build the files for my library (and clean them to my preference) and then import them (assuming Import works!).

Any help would be appreciated.

It only exports downloaded information, i.e. album information and artist information downloaded from allmusic.com et. al.

Nothing else (i.e. song tag information) is exported.

Still no luck - though slightly different in that the artist.nfo for the first artist in the list was created when attempting a "separate" export (no other files were created).

I notice there were some updates in the SVN in the past few hours related to exporting music info. I'll give that a shot now.

So I have the artist.nfo syntax, which is helpful. Except the <thumbs></thumbs> value is empty - is this a path or a URL value?

Can anyone post one of their album.nfo files?

Thanks!

Ah! SVN 18565 exported the single file musicdb.xml. But only the Artist info, no Albums. Getting closer.

It crashed on the separate export though - here's the end of the log: http://pastebin.com/m23638142

Still looking for a good example of the Album section of musicdb.xml or album.nfo. Anyone?

When you get to the bottom of this, would you be so kind as to update the wiki with the correct music xml syntax?

7 years later - found this thread thanks to Google:
Is it still true that all the imported id3 data directly from my songs are NOT exported?
