Google-Code-Project for translations
#1
Hi @ all,

I know collaborative translation has been discussed in another thread, but there is nothing happening...

2 other members on the forum and me, decided to make a platform for our German translations for xbmc as well as addons (skins, programms etc)...

The procedure is as follows:

There is one folder in the repository named like the addon to translate. In there
you have the original strings. Users can download the repository and make a translation. After finishing the translation a SVN commit uploads the new file...

Theoretically all addon-programmers can take a look at the source to implement it in their release...

I know this project is totally at the beginning, but I thought that something should happen here...

You can take a look at the project here:

https://code.google.com/p/translations-for-xbmc/

If you want to join, just PN me your google-nick and you´ll be added to the contributors...

Hopefully nobody will smash me for making my own thing up and running here Big Grin

cheers,
mad-max

More than 70 views and no response?

Come on guys...nobody with an opinion? Nobody as contributor?

To make things clearer:
I wrote that the German translation is uploaded, but we would like to have as many languages as possible in there...

Next Try...

For those who would like to contribute, but do not know how to handle this repository and svn stuff I created a HOW-TO (Windows):

1) You need to install Tortoise SVN from here:
http://tortoisesvn.net/downloads.html

Installing should not be a problem.

2) Next step is checking out the repo...
After installing SVN you should have more entries in you context menu, like this:

The URL of the repo can be found in the source are of the project:

https://code.google.com/p/translations-f...e/checkout

Image

You fill in the URL and checkout. This should look like this:

Then you have a folder representing the repo...

3) Now we come to the point of making changes...

Like adding a test folder...

Then you can add strings, translations, whatever it takes...

When done, time to commit...

4)
Select the folder and highlight the contextmenu...push the button SVN commit

Image

and select the updated files and make a little summary of what you have done

Image

Click "OK" and the changes will take effect

5)
Now You can see your work on the project page

That´s all of the mistery...

Hopefully after making things a little bit clearer, somebody will join and help us translating...
