I discovered there are alot more quality levels for more recent videos. they even stream h264 up to 640x480 at 1600kbitps. anyway there are up to 7 quality levels on some videos. so i am adding support for these. also they all seem to have at least one vp6/mp3 streams which is good because of the buggy nature of h264/aac over rtmp. i think i saw some work on this on the xbmc trac though.

My experience of the MTVNetworks script:

Great start to the script. Tonnes of content available, big plus.


* Search function would be ideal
* (as mentioned) random playlist would be amazing.
* Possibility of thumbnails?
* Starting a video is odd, seems to pause for a second, then plays
* Stopping videos seems hard work, video freezes, audio continues to play for maybe 10 seconds before returning to the UI. (is the script re-grabbing the index for the directory at this point?)
* Some videos (not worked out a pattern), seem not to play at all.

(I've had about 50-50 success rate with this script overall).


Some areas for improvement, but a gem of a script though. Top dollar.

thumbnails won't be a problem but i need to get a better parser.
i probably won't incorporate completely random playlists but more guided content.

nothing much to be done. it has to fetch the needed urls to play the video. i will see if i can speed it up

ok i investigated this and it is a problem with dvdplayer because it is takes close to 8 seconds from the time you press stop to it actually stooping and all threads exiting.

I requested people post specific artists and video names so i can try to reproduce any problems.

I currently have not found a video i can't play. there are bugs with xbmc playback but other then that they all play.

Here is an arist that has this video speed hissing audio issue:

Shakira - The One It suppose to be Audio mp3 but its using pcm_s16l

I also noticed its useing "DVDplayer" (does mplayer not play these or is dvdplayer better I dunno.....)

the video stream looks correct though

--When could I download a beta to help you fet these issues out (also be glad to test your high res version)

fixed a problem with some searches

added: detailed quality options for quality selections. tells you resolution, bitrate and video/audio codecs.

try britney spears - if you seek amy and circus to see some of the new h264 options.

there are alot of the newer videos in this high quality but spears has a 4x3(circus) and 16x9(if you seek amy) in high quality

i know. as i stated above. it is an issues with xbmc i can't do anything. i only need reports for issues that i don't know about. if a video doesn't play or the script crashes etc. i have already submitted a bug report for the static issue.

A big thanks to BlueCop for this plugin. I installed it a couple weeks ago and really didnt use until last night. My wife and I watched videos for more then hour and half. Watching those videos from the early MTV days brought back so many memories. Only downside was the videos that had stated issue with hissing but we just went on to another. Im gonna grab the latest version tonight but wanted to give a big thx for your work.

I see ppl say to use Mplayer instead of default. How do I switch? I thought you used white or black button but dont see it in options.

sounds like a great plugin, but whenever i try to view a video (320 or 240), and through any search (genre, artist, video), when i click the video size to view, it just freezes up my xbmc.

Its in the plugin settings but it doesn't have a purpose because everything over rtmp is played with dvdplayer.

chauzer: i am having trouble replicating this problem the log for the video you(50 cent - in da club) play for me but he sound is static due to the dvdplayer bug.

where are you located? i have no idea wha geo restrictions are in place.

I got it from SVN plugin. Its been at least a week I think. No worries I did get the latest version last nite with extra res. When ever xbmc works out teh hiss bug this plugin will be off the hook.
