Aeon manual/Readme
#1
Was just wondering if there was an Aeon manual?

If not, would it be possible for someone to upload the readme that comes with the Aeon Stark skin?

I'm not currently able to download Stark, but would like to read the manual/readme etc.

Thanks in advance

1.0 Important notes
--------------------

Thank you for downloading the first public release of Aeon "Stark" for XBMC.
Please bear in mind that Stark is considered version 0.9, and there are a
number of known (but hopefully minor) issues outstanding. What follows now
is a period of public beta testing before the 1.0 version, Aeon "Auriga",
arrives in a few weeks.

2.0 Reporting bugs and omissions
---------------------------------

The bugs and omissions list for Aeon can be found here:

http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p...0MFrwsQ0OA

This hasn't been used 'under stress' before so I can't promise it won't all
go hideously wrong. However, I'll look at it regularly and we'll just have to
see. Before posting any bug reports or feature requests, however, please
consider the following known issues:

- There is no File Manager window
- The TV Shows section is merely a placeholder built from
the existing views. It's fully functional but the final
design will be infinitely superior. Please hold off on
feature requests for this section.
- A proper set of Central European fonts is on its way, but
users from those territories may experience localisation
problems for now.
- Several scrollbars are displaced by three list items.
- Thumbnail ratios might be inappropriate for certain media
types in Video File views. Use Libraries if possible.

3.0 Your media and Aeon
------------------------

There are a few things to bear in mind with this version, especially as certain
desired features have yet to make it into XBMC trunk. While it's hoped that
Aeon's full feature set will work with any files in future, right now you'll
need to change a few things to see it at its best.

3.1 Full size movie posters
----------------------------

Aeon's new info screens present posters at the full height of your display. In
future, it's hoped that a dual cache system can be used to enable this feature
without affecting browsing speed. To use it now, however, you'll need to create
second copies of your thumbnails. So if the file in question is:

Escape From New York.mkv

...the following should be stored alongside it:

Escape From New York.tbn
(this is your usual thumbnail - leave it as is)

Escape From New York.mkv-big.png
(the second copy used by Aeon's info screens)

Note the "-big.png" suffix. Even if your thumbnails are actually jpg format,
the filenames *have* to adhere to the above convention. The reason for this is
too boring to go into, but hopefully a more elegant solution become possible
before long.

3.2 Media flags
----------------

Again, pending CapnBry's solution for reading media info direct from the files
themselves, you'll need to do some file renaming if you want all of these to
work. The two exceptions are MPAA Rating and Studio, both of which require the
right strings to be present in your XBMC database. It's pretty much essential
to use locally-stored nfo files to manage and control this data, so look up
XBMC Media Companion and start using that.

The keywords Aeon looks for are:

Studio String
------ ------

20th Century Fox "Fox"
Universal "Universal"
Film4 "FilmFour" / "Channel Four"
Disney "Disney" / "Pixar"
Gaumont "Gaumont"
United Artists "Artists"
New Line Cinema "New Line"
Dimension "Dimension"
Touchstone "Touchstone"
Hollywood Pictures "Hollywood"
Carolco "Carolco"
Revolution Studios "Revolution"
Lakeshore Entertainment "Lakeshore"
Lucasfilm "Lucasfilm"
Screen Gems "Screen Gems"
Warner Bros. "Warner"
TriStar Pictures "TriStar"
Castle Rock "Castle Rock"
Studio Canal "Studio Canal"
Paramount Pictures "Paramount" / "Comedy Central"
DreamWorks "DreamWorks"
Columbia Pictures "Columbia"
Metro Goldwyn Mayer "MGM" / "Mayer"
Sony Pictures "Sony"
Artisan "Artisan"
Lionsgate "Lionsgate"
Miramax "Miramax"

MPAA Rating String
----------- ------

G "Rated G"
PG "Rated PG"
PG-13 "Rated PG-13"
R "Rated R"
NC-17 "Rated NC-17"

Media Source String
------------ ------

Blu-ray "bluray"
DVD "sddvd"

Resolution String
---------- ------

SD "sdtv"
720p "720p"
1080p "1080p"

Audio String
----- ------

DTS "dts"
Dolby Digital "dolbydigital"

Note that for media source, resolution and audio, the strings have to be
present (anywhere) in the filename for the movie. MPAA Rating and Studio,
meanwhile, have to be present in the relevant field of the XBMC database /
nfo file. Renamer (http://www.den4b.com/downloads.php?project=ReNamer) is
an excellent tool for batch renaming files.

A more complete selection of flags will be added when CapnBry's solution
is merged into XBMC trunk.
