[AppleTV] HOW-TO to downgrade Apple TV OS (ATV OS) to an older version using a script
#46
I did the line by line and it seemed to work. System rebooted at end, apple comes on screen with status bar underneath and runs through that. Then, when it is done, ATV give me a message that the update failed. After that I power cycle the ATV and come to the main menu, but my remote won't work. This is a new install on a new ATV 2.3 and wasn't installing correctly so I was trying to downgrade to 2.2. Any ideas?

I've got a brand new Apple TV. I am unsure what version the OS is:

-bash-2.05b$ sw_Vers
ProductName: Apple TV OS
ProductVersion: 10.4.7
BuildVersion: 8N5622

Is there still a reason to downgrade to 2.2 if I am running 2.3? I have not noticed anything wrong with my Apple TV / XBMC configuration yet, but I have not used it much.

Oh, one thing I have noticed is that the wlan is really sloooow in my Apple TV. Is there a way for me to find out what type it is using (b/g/n) and what speed I've got towards my router?

r1.0 8N5107
r1.1 8N5239
r2.00 8N5400
r2.01 8N5455
r2.02 8N5461
r2.10 8N5519
r2.20 8N5622
r2.30 8N5722

ssh in and do an "ifconfig" to see you network setup.

Thank you! So I've already got 2.20, that's too bad really since I was hoping I could downgrade to fix my problems.

So now it's down to trying to find out why my ATV has such horrible network performance. It's not just speed, my ATV goes off the grid completely for minutes at a time, and during those times I can not even ping the machine from the router.

I've got a .n router so speed should not be an issue. But obviously something is not working right. I might have to try placing the router closer to the room the ATV is in and see if that solves anything.

Or, obviously, drag a stupid cat5 through the house. :-(

Oh, and ifconfig says this for en1:

en1: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
inet6 fe80::223:12ff:fe1c:bad4%en1 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x5
inet 192.168.1.155 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255
ether 00:23:12:1c:ba:d4
media: autoselect status: active
supported media: autoselect
wlt1: flags=41<UP,RUNNING> mtu 1500

Anybody see anything wrong?
