Problem with some skins since svn18897
#1
Hello,

recently, I have tried 2 skins that I had never installed before :
Focus from Jeroen : http://forum.xbmc.org/forumdisplay.php?fid=72
and MediaStream Mod By MiniMalko : http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=38742

These 2 skins are really great, but yesterday I updated my XBMC with a very recent build from ikons and I saw that in the 2 skins above, some views were no more available (Movies\Fanart in focus as an exemple).

I Started to dig a bit and didn't find any solution or reason why some views were missing.

So totay, I have dowloaded and installed a lot of XBMC builds to narrow the svn number from when the problem first appeared.

I found that in SVN 18851 from ikons all is working fine, but in the next one, 18897, the problem appear.
I had a look to the trac timeline and didn't found anything except that jmarshallnz has posted a few changeset. And if I remeber well, jonathan is the skinning BOSS !

Here are direct links to to 2 ikons builds with which you can reproduce the problem :

XBMC4win 18851 : http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?o122n50goeu
XBMC4win 18897 : http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ntanmtivwij

Full details to reproduce the problem :
1 - install XBMC 8.10
2 - install ikons build 18851
3 - install Focus
4 - Start XBMC, note that the default background is blue
5 - Put a movie in the library
6 - Select Video\Movies from the Homepage
7 - left arrow to bring the view selection menu
8 - browse the views, you will see one which is called "fanart"
10 - Close XBMC
11 - install ikons build 18897
12 - Start XBMC, note that the background is now totally black Shocked
13 - Videos\Movies
14 - You shouldn't be able to find the fanart view Shocked

I confirm the problem still occurs in svn18936, svn19301 and svn19317 so I presume that the problem is there since svn18897 and that it is caused by a change between svn18851 and svn18897.

I haven't written anywhere that there was a problem with mediastream.

I wrote that there was a problem at least with focus and "Mediastream mod by minimalko".

Reguarding "fanart view", it's a Movie view in the Focus skin.

I could be wrong about this, but I things that at some point around there XBMC changed the mapping of a few things and caused errors for various skins and particularly for the iphone remote.

Probably your best bet is to look for updates from those two skin developers. You may be out of luck on the mediastream mod, as that doesn't appear to be being updated at the moment, but there's something to be said about asking the Focus people.
