XBMC Babylon Beta 1 available on Ubuntu PPA

Maybe you should ask on the development forum.

Quick heads up: I was able to fix this on my system, but I posted about it in the dev forum to make sure I wasn't missing something.

If there isn't a reason it won't work, my fix is a pretty simple makefile patch.

Wattazoum,

Thanks so much. This project is the best. Smile

I'm running Hardy with XBMC 8.10 via PPA, and used Envy months back to install Nvidia drivers. All is OK. I want to upgrade both my Nvidia drivers and XBMC to Babylon RC1 (and the later RC's/final releases as they come out).

2 quick questions:

1. How do I set the new PPA's in ubuntu to just upgrade my old version of XBMC while carrying over my settings/library data, etc? I've invested so much time into the library and settings, I'd rather not start from scratch.

2. Does Envy have the latest Nvidia drivers required for hardware acceleration or do I need to do something special?

Thanks. Smile

wattazoum Wrote:Topic says all.

I have set up new PPAs to make it easier to find where they are.
The information is available on:
https://launchpad.net/~team-xbmc#ppas

There is one PPA for HARDY, INTREPID and JAUNTY.
On the PPA " PPA for XBMC for Linux " you will have tests packages while the others have only official released packages.

Have fun

If it's just to upgrade to RC 1, you should add the PPA that is on this page:
https://edge.launchpad.net/~team-xbmc/+archive/hardy-ppa
then upgrade your packages. It won't change your settings nor libraries.

This, I don't know. Anyway, hardware decoding (VDPAU) is not activated on hardy. The reason is simple: I don't have any PPA that would provide an Nvidia drivers package that would permit the activation of this feature.
We succeeded on Intrepid because we got a PPA providing them.

I must be missing something... I've got the following PPAs included in my repositories:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/hardy-ppa/ubuntu hardy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/hardy-ppa/ubuntu hardy main

And I'm not getting any indication there's a new version available. In the package manager it says I've got xbmc 8.10finalsvn17967 - in the info section of xbmc it says pre9.04 svn17967

I've tried removing the PPA from the repositories and putting them back in, which worked once before when this happened, but still not seeing babylon.

Any thoughts?
