Why does aeon use nfo files?
#1
So I don't mean to sound like I know better but I am new to xbmc & aeon and I'm wondering why aeon is so reliant on nfo files and each movie in their own dir?

The regular xbmc scrapers seems to have a fairly good system of storing everything in one big xml file and not requiring videos in their own dir. I know nfo are used to override the scrapers because they make mistakes but couldn't a xml akin to what xbmc already uses do that too? As another post of mine has probably already shown I'm a little resistant to having to add all these files and folders since I'm worried if I say switch to something else eventually I have to totally undo all this specialized xbmc & aeon stuff.

I guess I'm also sort of lacking what parts of this are xbmc or aeon limitations or problems. Is any of this going to change eventually?

Only the original Aeon (Stark) needed NFO files purely as a workaround for media flagging until it became integrated into XBMC. Aeon Auriga supports meta data in the database.
