Pr.Sinister Wrote:I used to love banners and it took me forever to switch to posters and i only
did it because of Aeon Stark.

If i only had 40 popular TV Series, it wouldn't be so bad, but i have 298 TV Series
and a lot of them are obscure ones where i had to create my own banners and
now TV Posters.

Could you have an option for TV Shows where you have 3 settings for the
filmstrip at the bottom where you choose what type of icon to use?

I kept all my banners and named them banner.jpg and all posters are folder.jpg
AND poster.jpg. That way, i can run a script that sets all my TV Shows to posters
or banners.

But since the filmstrip is always at the bottom and icons are one next to the
other, having a setting to have it use folder.jpg (16x9 thumb) poster.jpg or
banner.jpg would be something that would, in my opinion, make everyone
happy.

Of course, this is just my 2 cents worth so no flaming please...

I tend to agree with this guy’s view of the situation with the sidescroller (aka film strip) at the bottom of the TV view. I personally have a 7TB NAS with more content then I care to mention and re-arranging, downloading, and changing all my banner art for my television shows just wouldn’t work. It is not a matter of minutes but hours for my collection and that is not even mentioning the fact that I have other XBMC boxes that aren’t powerful enough to use aeon which work/look best when using banner art. I don’t mind the new addition of your proprietary sized art, but using that at the expense of omitting support for universally accepted art formats (banner) is unacceptable. Adding the ability to switch between the types of art you want to display in this view would not be all that difficult and would be more accommodating and flexible to both personal preference and actual inability to meet your new demands because of large media collections and an already established install base of equipment.

Slice
P.S. I say this with all the respect in the world. I am no programmer or graphic artist so I am constantly amazed at the stunning things you have done/continue to do with the aeon project (this view included). I just find it a little disappointing that adherence to established standards of art have been ignored. I am not saying it was wrong to add this new size of art especially for aeon (changing the art for you probably isn’t a big deal and you probably don’t have a large install base of XBMC boxes that all run different skins because they aren’t powerful enough to run aeon), I am just saying it was wrong to leave out support for what people have been using and have a need of (in my case banner art).

Just wait a couple of days and i'm sure someone will sort out a mod to use posters.

In my honest opinion this is the wrong mind set to have if you want a successful project, especially in the open source community where good projects almost always adhere to establishes standards. I’m not saying that aeon isn’t brilliant but some of the hard-line comments of “my way or the highway” by developers is not conducive to large scale acceptance. For example, if apple said that the iPod would only play their own flavor of music files and not MP3s would it have been as successful as it is today? The answer to that is undoubtedly NO it would have flopped. The situation we are seeing here is much the same with the omitance of support for standards based art sizes. I find it simply disheartening because it is going to put off many potential users who already have well established infrastructure and media distribution within their households and or businesses.

The difference between this and your example is that this is free. If apple sent you a letter offering you an ipod that would only play their files for free then you would take it then you would live with it or mod it to play mp3 files.

The same applies here. djh has made a fantastic skin to his personal likings taking into account requests from the community that he agrees with. If you don't like it then you can either live with it or modify it yourself to serve your own needs.

I see no reason why djh should have to incorporate anything just because you, me or anybody else wants it.

Montellese Wrote:Use the download button on this site: http://github.com/djh/aeon/tree/auriga
and just copy it into your Aeon folder in XBMC's skin folder.

Then go into your movies section and choose the Multiplex View.

I downloaded Aeon from this link and copied it to the skins folder but when I activate it just loads Stark (according to the Assistant page, and I already have Stark installed in a seperate folder).

What am I doing wrong?

Standards? So for the next 10 years we were going to use the same art and standards created years ago? djh_ is just starting a new standard. No one needs to worry because if it looks good, we will all adopt it and people will create the content and resources needed to utilize it. Come on people stop being so black and white.

Is it possible to configure the Plot view in Multiplex to show the Cover of the film on the right side, instead of the two predefined extrathumb screenshots? Maybe using a xml tweak?

I don't want to sacrifice the plot listing in Multiplex but i find the the empty boxes on the right somewhat of a drag, as I won't be able to set up extrathumbs for a while (mostly because I don't organize my movies in seperate folders, but also because it isn't a XBMC database standard (yet)).

Any help would be much appreciated!

Yipee! Smooth AND fast. Wink

Thanks a bunch!

edit: For anyone that is now applying this as well, you might want to change the aspectratio handling of the poster frame by replacing <aspectratio>strech</aspectratio> with <aspectratio>scale</aspectratio>. That way some of the poster might be cropped, but the aspect ratio at least stays intact - if you are using a 16:9 display that is.. Smile

I think it's because it's lost focus. Have you pressed up to trigger the Info?
