Google Summer of Code - no XBMC entry this year?
#1
Question
I was browsing the ffmpeg website when I noticed they mentioned being accepted into the summer of code deal. It occurred to me that I haven't heard anything about that event over here.

I was just curious why that was. It's pretty evident that we seem to already have quite a few coders and a relatively large talent pool of willing individuals, so it would make sense not to really need the Summer of Code work.

Any amazing insight on this topic?

Real simple - the majority of experienced developers didn't have enough time to commit to mentoring a student this time around.

I'd love to do it again - it was a good experience for both me and the student (alcoheca in my case) and the XBMC project has benefitted from it immensely.

Hopefully next year we'll be able to take part again.

Cheers,
Jonathan

Alcoheca was originally a summer of code student? That's cool. I didn't know that.
