XBMC 9.04 "Babylon" and iMON R200 (0038) remote
#1
I have just moved from XBMCLive 8.04 to 9.04 and I'm wondering what do I have to do to get my iMON RM200 (0038) remote working again ?
And maybe for the first time I can get the display working :-)
The remote and display came with my SilverStone CW02 HTPC box.

I have officially given up on getting the RM200 remote to work.
So I bought a MCE compatible remote Speedlink SL-6399 MCE
It worked instantly after connecting the receiver..... well almost.
several buttons does not work and some are mapped on the wrong button.

So I thought it should be a breeze to remapp it.
But when I run "irw" it does not report anything on this remote.
I switched back to XBMC 8.04 where my RM 200 remote works and tried the new MCE remote there, and the buttons that worked it 9.04 also worked in 8.04 so I started "irw" in 8.04 but no buttons are registered from the new MCE remote. But my RM200 is detected by "irw"

My question is WHY does not "irw" detect the new MCE remote despite some of the buttons works in XBMC ?
UPDATE! Figured out this one, it's detected as a USBHID device and does not use lirc :-(

Darn... how hard it is to get a remote to work.....

What remote with external USB IR receiver works out of the box with XBMCLive
without having to patch, compile and fiddle with config files ?

I'm not that far yet... after dozens of hours I'm still trying Wink and for the first time I got the LIRC-devices working... updating my post (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=54295) afterwards, perhaps we can help each other

I was digging around this the other day trying to get my pinnacle to work. For a while I thougt it was a HID device. It wasn't, I think linux/lirc just don't have a driver for the IR receiver..the remote it self sends the same signals as the MS MCE Remote.

Anyway, if it is any help I think it should be possible to hoc up a HID to LIRC in the hardware.conf. It was something with setting the device to the event. Search for <hardware.conf event> or someting like that.

BTW: Cant you re-map a HID device in XBMC without LIRC?

Useful information(?):

Display HID devices:
Quote:cat /proc/bus/input/devices

Display normal remotes:
Quote:ls -l /dev/ttyUSB*
