[MAC] No FLAC support on PPC (Power PC)?
#1
Question
I'm pretty new to macs but I installed xbmc 9.04 on a mac ppc with OSX 10.4 and everything plays fine except FLAC files. It shows the timer moving but there is no audio. Sometimes the time jumps around by a few seconds. Audio on all other files plays fine. Any ideas?

There is currently no support for FLAC or WAV audio formats under ppc OSX...
Some endian issue to take care of. Will try to fix that in the coming weeks (hopefully)...

I just got into XBMC, downloaded version 9.04.1 and installed on my late-2005 dual-core G5 'PPC' running Leopard.

I can't play FLAC files; everything else works through the default player. I can however play FLAC files using 'DVDPlayer', just not the default 'PAPlayer'.

Looks like the same issue that Pork was having. Pork, has your issue been resolved since you posted this? Beenje, would you happen to know if there's been an update since Februrary?

Looks like I might have the same version as Pork, so looks like the issue hasn't been resolved yet?

Thanks for your response,
-Clayton

Sorry, I still haven't looked at it.
Has been too nice weather in Sweden lately :-)
Will update this thread when an update is available.

Btw, 9.04.1 is from end of may. So it hasn't been that long ;-)

Definitely did not mean to imply that you guys are lazy, by any means. Other than the .flac issue, I absolutely love the XBMC; how I can run the same front-end software on my PPC Mac and Windows XP PC. The fact that you guys even try to support PPC processors puts you well above the rest of the freeware pack, IMO.

Also, thanks for the quick and personal reply. I'll keep using XBMC, and look forward to the next update.

I'm actually heading to Amsterdam in a few weeks (1st time in Europe), so I'm pleased to hear the weather relatively close to there is nice.

Cheers,
-Clayton

Oh, and if you happen to be the 'sound-guy' specialist for XBMC, any chance we can get ASIO support, at least for the PC, so I can use ASIO4ALL as the sound driver when playing my .flac files through XBMC. THAT, would be totally sweet Smile

I'm no specialist at all :-)

FLAC playback should work on ppc after build r21756.

Enjoy your time in Europe!
