Weird volume problem
#1
I'm running Ubuntu (32bit), and after the upgrade to Ubuntu 9.04 and XBMC 9.04.1, The volume control makes less difference than before. In fact, even when muted the audio still continues. It's almost as if XBMC is playing on two channels at the same time, but just changing the volume on one of them.

I discussed this on the irc with some people, and I seem to be the only one with this problem, so I'm figuring it's a configuration problem. Blush But I can't find anything. Very weird.

I've checked everything in the Alsa Volume contrrol and all looks good. I've muted all channels except the ones that you have to have, Master, Front and PCM, so I don't think that's the problem, and other software can be muted...

Ideas?

Have you got pulse audio installed?

Yeah, removing Pulseaudio solved it. After browsing through the Pulseaudio issue thread I do start wondering why XBMC for Ubuntu is compiled with pulseaudio support in the first place. Smile
