With the latest version I have two issues (or questions)

1) The home screen has a black background. Is there a way to change this? I looked under the skin settings and changed a couple of settings there but those only affect the background within the video, music, etc libraries.

2) I have duplicated video items listed under Video.

Which version of xbmc or you using ?
Most likely it's too old, for this skin to work you'll need one of the development builds.

2) I have duplicated video items listed under Video.

This might be an xbmc bug. Again first try if a more recent version of xbmc fixes this.
You could also try to delete your video database and recreate it.

I had the same exact problem (running XBMC on Ubuntu) and I just updated the application from the repositories, and the problem had disappeared. Like the last poster commented, update your XBMC install to the latest SVN version available.
