SMB Password not saved ?
#1
Hi folks,

i have a problem.

I'm forget my password on my nas - movie share.
So now i've set the password to a new one.

The problem:
Every time i start xbmc for windows and i try to access a movie or a tv show xbmc says: Can't find the movie should i remove it from the database ?

The problem is my new password. If i reconnect the share with the new password everything is ok, but it seems xbmc doesn't save this entered new password.

After restarting xbmc it try to connect to my NAS and said again Cant't find the movie ... every time i have to enter the new password manually. Confused

Is there a way to fix this problem ?

Thx in advance

I've edited the passwords in mediasources.xml and sources.xml manually.
Now it seems ok !

After restarting the pc and starting xbmc the movies woulnd't be found again Sad

The movies can't be found in database mode.
It can be found and played only with database OFF.

After disabling database and play one movie the database can be enabled again and everything is fine ... until the next restart of the pc.

If i shutdown xbmc only and restarting them everything is ok.

The problem occurs only when the pc is rebooted.

Sad

Any hint's ?

Thx in advance

Hint #1: Please post full debug log.
The normal XBMC log IS NOT a debug log, to enable debug logging you must toggle it on under XBMC Settings - System or in advancedsettings.xml. Use XBMC Debug Log Addon to retrieve it.

Ok, i'll do that in a few minutes ...

The main problem:

If i'm not restarting the pc, only xbmc everything is ok. Movies can be found in db mode.

After restarting the pc (shutdown or reset) xbmc starts but movies can't be found in db mode, only in file mode.

in db mode xbmc says: The movie is no longer available, ...

Please tell me how to get the debug.log.

Should i post the complete log here in this thread ?

PS: I'm using build SVN21219

Thx in advance

Hint #2: Use pastebin.com and don't snip the log.

And you have to access the shares first, then get the XBMC.log...

I'm not sure but afaik we store the path including the passwords in the DB. A changed password means a different path. So I guess you have to rescan these items.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

Hi folks,

i've found the problem Nod

When xbmc starts and you have set the following option to OFF:

Scan for changes at startup

XBMC is unable to play a movie that is located on the NAS, because
XBMC doesn't open the connection to the NAS.

I have rechecked this on another machine.
Same problem occur's.

When i set the option for: Scan changes at startup to ON everything is fine.

Best Regards

Please post the log so we might have some hope of determining if this is a problem that needs fixing or if its a one off thing with your setup. Disabling an option maybe OK for you, but it's not for us.

Ok, tell me the right way to post the log (pastebin,...).

I think my problem is a common problem.
When you turn off: Scan for changes at startup
you're unable to play a movie that's been stored on a password secured NAS.

After you have the 1st successful connect to the NAS you're able to open
all other files that are stored there.

It's normal but it takes a little time to find the problem...

Best Regards

Hi,

I think I'm experiencing the same problem on my new computer with windows 7. (the source is on a winxp machine).

when I boot up the computer and start xbmc and try to play a movie from the library it says the "do you want to remove the file... bla bla". If I go into filemode and then try to access the setup share that the vids lie in (//HTPC/Usb/HD), XBMC locks up and the logs say that it couldn't connect to the server.

If I instead first go into the add source option and just browse to my added network location, where I have set up the username and password, and enter that share. I don't have to add a new one, just enter the share and then cancel out of the "add source" dialogs. I can now play movies from the library and I can also browse the shares in file mode. And that holds on until a reboot of the computer.

here are the two logs:
the first scenario where it crashes
the second scenario when it works

I have not tried to do turn on the suggested option that the threadstarter described.
