Night vs Light Theme

What is the difference here? If I set night or light in the multiplex view it never changes. To me it just looks light. As I am more interested in darker themes what can I do to get a dark theme for the info panels, etc.

cyrus_mc, you should try one of the dark themed mods, such as this one by 'Black or this one by Hitcher
