I really don't want the music section to default to the visualiser. Yes I can see the turn off option, but all it does then is eventually go to a blank screen.

I just want it to stay on the music files. Trouble is once its gone to the visualiser or blank screen getting back from it on an harmony is a pain in the arse.

Or is there at least some way to make the visualiser come on after say 3 hours instead of a couple of minutes?

Disable the "Use viz as screensaver during music playback" option in settings > appearance > screensaver.
