Hardware Info:

XBMC Log:

Skin Name:
Mediastream, Mediastream Redux and PM3 (Default Skin)

Distro:
XBMC Live

Additional Packages:
Asterisk - Used for notifying of callerid (inbound calls)
Apache2 + PHP - Used for remote control of system (id3 tagging of files, library, etc ...)

Complete Package List:
http://pastebin.com/f7b0bf40d

Video Driver:
I downgraded from v180 to v173 (nvidia-glx) as the display was completely garbled on 180. I tried 185 from nvidia site, but from various posts on ubuntuforums.org, I tried 173 and all my issues with video were immediately resolved. My currently resolution is 1920x1080 (ps -- mediastream redux looks sweet on my 42" Plasma)

Experience with XBMC:
XBMC works great! I was able to add some media from pictures, music and video and (other than the crashing detailed in this post) the only other issue I encountered was having to remap buttons in Lircmap.xml for my mceusb to allow for the ContextMenu.

Description of Crash:
Unfortunately, I cannot determine the exact cause of the issue however I can recreate it fairly consistantly. When navigating in XBMC between multiple menus and stopping and starting media, the system will hang and be unresponsive while still playing the last media selected. In the case of a playlist, it will still queue music with the visualizer and currently queued song and time still updating.

I originally thought that lirc might be crashing however XBMC HTTP port crashes as well...
Also, networking seems to still be available but things like samba crash.... and sometimes SSH.

(T: XBMCLive)root@XBMCLive:~# telnet localhost 3000
Trying ::1...
Trying 127.0.0.1...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

I wouldn't say I am an expert at linux however I have used it since kernel 0.99g. If there is any additional hardware, bios, or other information you need, I will post it ASAP.

Ignore the DMESG. Its from after the crash (whoops... might not be useful).

Also, if I boot the machine without xbmc-live on startup, the machine runs stable.

I am going to reinstall to latest ubuntu. I doubt this will resolve the issue but I have noticed several other stability problems with xbmc live.
