Hey everyone, I'm building a new HTPC and I want to make sure I'm choosing the right parts.
I want to buy this motherboard, Zotac GF-9300 http://www.amazon.com/Zotac-GeForce-Wi-F...660&sr=1-5 , and an Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 processor http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Pentium-Dual...y_e_text_b , and this case http://www.mini-itx.com/store/?c=3#8k07 ,
Is the integrated nvidia 9300 vdpau compatible, and will I be able to play back HD using vdpau with this setup?
Can anyone see any other problems with this setup?
Thanks!
-Matt

sure, you are going to be able to play 1080p without a problem.

I just built this, although with a different case, and it works great. With the nV 9300 chipset, I was able to play the Planet Earth "Killa" sample at 1080p with no frame drops and CPU utilization below 10% on both cores. I'm still a little worried about my temps, but I think it'll be okay.
One area where I've been fighting with it is sound over HDMI. I've kind of got a solution, but it's not ideal. I get sound for all my video files, but if I change music tracks in the middle of a song, I get an error, and I have no GUI sounds. It's still a little bit of a work in progress. |

Cool, I ordered the parts today so hopefully they'll come soon, and I'll post my results. I'm not too fussed about the sound thru HDMI at the moment, I have a set of analog surround speakers which I can connect directly to the PC so that will do me.

One other problem I have, also sound related, is that I have no sound output for flash files. If someone can figure this one out, it would be most appreciated. Also, matthewbpt, please keep us up to date as to how your build goes. Maybe I can learn something that would help me fix my problem.
