I want to free up as much RAM as possible, so what are the ideal dimensions for poster artwork?

Sorry for double posting, I put it in the wrong forum at first, and I couldn't figure out how to delete threads.

Taken care of. But, are you referring to xbox?

And, are you talking about posters (I think the default size is 192, should be fine) or fanart? (960X540 to save RAM)?

I am talking about the XBOX.

What dimensions should my posters be?

I want as much free RAM as possible.

After resizing all my fanart to 960 540 my free RAM jumped from 2 MB to 26 MB.

That's what i want to happen when I change the poster dimensions.

Did you make it to the second paragraph where it says:

On a non-HDTV displays a image that is approx 100x140 is recomended for video/movies thumbnails (which is the size that is most common on IMDb)

Oh, I just thought that was far too small to be what I was looking for. I was thinking it would be around 400x200 or something like that. Wouldn't it make the pic blurry?

Default the xbox catches the thumbs 192x192 into your userdata.
You can change that in advancedsettings.xml.
So it doesn't matter how big the poster is the xbox will save it 192x192 (doesn't need to be square).
See advancedsettings.xml <thumbsize>:

Fanart is an other story the xbox will save it to the userdata as it is.
So do rezise it (Mine are 1280x720) Use Media Companion and have the option to resize.

There is a ticket for FanArt Image Cache Size option.

I used this little app: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using...lman2.mspx

It's simple and does what you need.

So what you're saying is that it doesn't matter if I resize my poster art, XBMC will make it smaller by itself?

YES !!! Wink

And you can change that size in Advancedsettings.xml.
If you do you need to delete the thumbnail folder in your userdata so xbmc pick them up again in the new size you did set. Big Grin

I run them default 192x192 and fanart 1280x720.
