VP7 Codec
#1
Hi Guys, I've got the free version of the VP7 codec install in my XP box.

VP7 encoded videos play in WMP11. However in XBMC only the sound plays.
Any tricks for getting XBMC to see external codecs? Or to get VP7 to play on XBMC Pc?

VP7 works on the Xbox version. Is it possible to grab the codecs from it an dump them in the PC version??

Thanks!

XBMC never uses external codecs. Your best hope is to see if ffmpeg supports VP7 and provide a link to show the dev team, or else find an opensource decoder of the codec and ask the team if they'd be willing to look to add it to the system.

They may well say "code welcome," but maybe not.

VP7 works on the Xbox version, so why can't the same codecs be use in the PC version?

Because the PC version is actually using a different video player. Certain ports occur at different times.

Same reason the tire for a kia car can't be used on a ford f-150 truck. Incompatible format.
