[XBOX] Swapping DVD-Drive?

Hello,

i am using an old used xbox from ebay to run xbmc on.
recently the dvd drive is giving up on me and does not open and plays music and movies with skipping.

i was looking into replacing it with another dvd rom.
i found a lot of tutorials and stuff, but all require you to keep the original drive in or other strange things to be able to still play original games.

now i dont own any games nor a joypad for the xbox and rally dont want to play any games.

is it possible to replace the drive compleatly and dont care about the games and still be able to play dvds/music cds or will then the xbox not find the new dvddrive?

The DVD Drive is pretty much "Plug-N-Play", as long as it is a Xbox DVD Drive. You would need a "chipped" xbox to use a regular PC DVD Drive.

But to answer your question........Get a Xbox DVD Drive off Ebay, put it in, cut it on......works.
