There are MB's or GC's they supporting AUDIO over HDMI ?
#1
Hi folks,

i'm running xbmc on an ACER REVO at the moment.
The Revo is running under Windows XP SP3.

The revo is good, but only for SD Material.
And the AEON Skin is not running very smooth on the ACER.

So, in the next future i plan to upgrade the hardware.

I want to buy a new Motherboard, 2 Gigs of RAM and a Core2Duo CPU

My intention:

I want to look 1080p material (TS streams) without stuttering.
I want to have the AEON Skin running absolutely smooth ...

So i am looking for a very good Motherboard with Onboard Grafic and HDMI Output. This HDMI Output must be able to transport Video AND Audio.
I'm only using HDMI NO SPDIF !
And i need the sound passthrough, because my AVR does can decode all Audioformat's incl. DTS-HD, ...

Or would it be better to buy a cheaper board and buy a extra grafic-card they supporting (passthrough) Audio AND Video over HDMI.
I don't know about a GC that supporting A/V over HDMI.

Any hint's for me ?

One's again:

I want to look 1080p material (TS streams) without stuttering.
I want to have the AEON Skin running absolutely smooth ...

Thx in advance

I recommend you an Acer Revo that does all that you need :p

Simply try it with linux and a recent XBMC from SVN PPAs that supports VDPAU

Mi installation uses POV ION330 that has the same CPU and GPU, and at least in 720p works perfect. My TV is 720p only, so I haven't tried 1080p, but from what I read in the forums, it works. With sound through HDMI, of course.

I have a nearly perfect but a lttle bit slow windows setup, so at this time i don't want to use Linux instead, because i have spent a lot of time to have this setup running very well (including complete remote control via eventghost,...)

I have no time and fun to build a whole new Linux environment with many new problem's (drivers, remotecontrol (MS MCE IR),...)

So folks, please give me some hint's about good hardware ...

Thx

Acer is 230 your POV is 330.
Have you tried XBMC Live?
MCE IR out of the box and the best thing is you can keep your precious windows Big Grin
