im working my my way through my dvd collection, adding them to my media library on xbmc. ive gotten to futurama and its in 4:3 format id like to know if there is anyway that i can rip it and encode it to 16:9
software i normaly use its dvd shrink to rip the dvd to vob then i use Auto Gordian Knot to create the avi

So are you saying you have a full screen source? If so, are you looking to crop or stretch to achieve 16:9. Either way you'd be changing the picture.

i dont want to crop and lose the top and bottom of the screen. isnt it possible to have the image fill the left and right of the screen with a black band at the top and bottom where necessary? just like xbmc does when you set the view mode to 16:9. or, failing encoding from 4:3 to 16:9, is it possible to make xbmc change the view mode for a whole tv show?
