Cooperative project?

I saw a comment requesting a client for xbmc to the old dopewars game, and thought that that was doable, but it seemed a bit boring. So I thought maybe

there where some interest to try develop something different on the xbmc platform and where almost everyone could contribute with something.
I gave it some thought and I think drugwars could be funny to write, even if it seems a bit simple, it's just to make it more complex :p


Drugwars?
Drugwars was originally a DOS program created by John E. Dell in 1984.
The premise of the game is that the player is a drug dealer living in New York City. The player travels around the various parts such as Manhattan, The

Bronx, Coney Island, and Brooklyn. The player also buys and sells various drugs such as Cocaine, Heroin, Acid, Weed, Speed, and Ludes. Traveling from

one part of the city to another takes one day. The point of the game is to make the most amount of money in the given time of 30 days.


Why a drugwars clone?
  • It's a game that's easy to program for all developers, but you can also get yourself a challenge if you're an experienced programmer.
  • almost everbody can contribute with something to such a project. Designers, programmers, storytellers, trolls.. you name it..
  • easy to deleveop new features to increase gameplay or create a almost new game. There's no rules to follow. We could sell cookies over dope
  • easy to port to other systems such as web


What will it feature?
That's mainly up to the contrbuturs. Here's mine ideas for fetures..
  • Multiplayer over network.
  • Metaserver to share server information
  • Plugable AI for singleplayer and police
  • Some inspiration from "Jones in the fastlane" in gameplay (see consepts)

What can it feature?
The only limit it's your imagination (and maybe the fact that xbmc is a mediacenterSmile)
There a lot of funny features that could be picked up from gta, jones, sims++

If there are some intrest from developers we'll try to set up a little project.
For beginners and people who feel insecure on the xbmc api, this could be a great oportunity to learn, and I guess I can help out a bit, even though I'm

not a expert myself. And this could maybe help get more scripters and scripts to xbmc.
