Web Interface Not Working
#1
I've been using XBMC on an ITX/Intel/Ion board for a month now and it's working great so far. Been using XBMC for a month now too so I'm new to it.

I cannot get the web interface to work.

I see the option to enable the web interface and I've searched the forums and google and it seems like for everyone else it just works with no issue so I don't know what I've done wrong. I've also found two alternative programs/interfaces here in the forums written by others and I haven't tried yet, because I would like to try to built in one first.

I go into the settings and enable the web interface and then I try from another computer using the IP of my htpc/ION and also from the local system itself using 127.0.0.1, but I just get "Page Cannot Be Displayed". The firewall service is disabled and I don't have any other firewall or antivirus software installed. Just XP Pro and XBMC.

Am I missing something?

are you connecting to the right port - iirc 8080?

So far this is how I've tried connecting:

From local machine - http://127.0.0.1:80 and http://127.0.0.1:8080

and from my remote computer on the same network - http://mediaitx and http://mediaitx:8080

And I always get the page cannot be displayed.

I've looked through services and some other system files and the guisettings.xml and everything looks good to me.

What else could the issue be?

The web service is built into xbmc right? Or do I have to use a 3rd party program like some of the ones people have made in this forumHuh

I just figured out that when I try to load C:\Program Files\XBMC\web\default.asp is just gives me the text inside the file in IE and doesn't load the web page.

Does that help in why I'm having issues? Is something not installed or do I need to enable something to get this to work?

Now after digging down more into this, I don't my XBMC is allowing any connections to anything. I just tried to use XBMC Control 0.4.7 and it can't connect to my XBMC either.

Can someone help me dig down why this isn't working?

It sounds like the webserver is disabled (it is disabled by default). Or you're not on the right port, it's a setting.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search and search the forum before posting.

I have the webserver enabled through the GUI. Is there another way to verify if the webserver part is running instead of just trusting the enable option?

Make sure you're on the right port... don't just guess.
Then do what althekiller said.

If you'd done what I said in the first place your problem would be resolved by now. Speculation just wastes everyone's time.
