cannot get resume to work with remote
#1
I've been reading every thread on here about resume and remotes, and have tried everything listed so far, but am unable to get resume to work, so looking for some help.

I've tried doing the
Quote:kernel /boot/vmlinuz-<version> root=UUID=<some-uuid> ro quiet splash usbcore.autosuspend=-1
thing.

Ive tried doing the Echo USB0 > /proc/acpi/wakeup thing for every usb device listed by lsusb, and this is what I see in my terminal:
Quote:(T: XBMCLive)root@XBMCLive:~# cat /proc/acpi/wakeup

PS2K S4 disabled pnp:00:08
SMB0 S4 disabled pci:0000:00:03.2

I can get the system to suspend to ram via the power button from within XBMC, but cannot get it to resume.

Here is the last portion of my xbmc.log file

here is my rc.local file:

Here is my lircmap.xml file

Here is my hardware.conf file

And finally, my lircd.conf file:
http://pastebin.com/m3defefb1

my specs are in my system, I have the newer zotac board that supports STR, I have S3 enabled in my bios, I have resume from everything turned on, and can't seem to figure this out. If I hit a button on the keyboard, it will resume, but remote does not. I', using a Harmony 550 remote, with a HA-IR01SV IR receiver From here

There is one thing i noticed, however, but dont know if its the problem. If i do LSUSB, I see this:
Quote:(T: XBMCLive)root@XBMCLive:~# lsusb
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 1784:0008 TopSeed Technology Corp.
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

however even though I did Echo USB4 (for Bus 4) it still doesn't show a USB4 in the cat above...could this be it?

Thanks

Update: I've made a small amount of progress. REading a post here, I added a new device to my remote, called "windows media center" and left the defaults. Now if i use that device, I can get it to resume by hitting the "PwrToggle" button on the remote, however once resumed, power toggle does not send it back to sleep...I have to switch back to the Harmony PVR to get it to go back to sleep, but at least it looks like resuming sorta works...now how do i get it to work on the harmony device settings?

Did you adjust lirc.conf to properly operate as a Windows Media Center remote?

My only theory, and it's probably not a very good one, is that maybe lirc translates powertoggle as poweron, and not poweroff/toggle/whatever.

I haven't tried changing the lirc conf for media center remote, as a guide I saw on here and suggested by someone else, said to configure the remote in lirc as a "Harmony KLS PVR" for better functionality. I went about setting the remote/lirc up as instructed, and got every button to work, except for the resume functionality. I'll have to see if there might be some other xbmc command for power toggle functionality. What's weird is that if I have the remote in PVR mode, it won't register any input on my ir receiver (has an LED to indicate reception) but if I switch the remote to media center, it will light the LED, and will bring XBMC out of resume if i press the button for "PwrToggle" looks like I'll have to do some investigating into commands if nobody else has any ideas.

That's not what I see here. Those US12 + 15 are usb hubs also.

Yes, not exactly intuitive. Use lshw to understand something about usb "trees".

Suspend/Resume works...or it doesn't. Hacks hardly solve that. Once you enable the correct device to wakeup the system from suspend, create a script to run on resume....you'd better go e.g. here for the details.

cool i just used that. lshw can be obtained by
apt-get install lshw
then lshw >>/home/lshw from any terminal to be viewed as a file. lshw returns too much info to be viewed on my terminal.

thanks for the info.. I turned on US12, and now when i hit the power button to put it to sleep, it comes back on by itself about 4 seconds later....running lshw right now to see what gets output.

Ok, first step in right direction. Now read the linked wiki.
