#1
Hi all

Ive installed XBMC live on HDD
Everything works great with the set up am also using ccXstream to share folders from windows 7

So i started up Filezilla to add a new skin etc..
and alll i get is this

Code:
Status:    Connecting to 192.168.1.103:21...
Status:    Connection attempt failed with "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server".
Error:    Could not connect to server
Status:    Waiting to retry...

Anyone any idea why am getting this Failed attempt?

I'm trying to maximise the transfer speed between my windows PC and ubuntu/xbmc Live install on my AsRock, however I'm maxing out @ 8mb/s.

As such, I'd like to get FTP working (not SFTP) within my local network.
Being SFTP, i'm assuming its encrypting / decrypting all the data I'm sending between my machines and hence slowing it down.

I haven't been able to find any instructions on how to allow WinSCP (for example) to connect without encrpytion. (SFTP works fine).

Suggestions? Would pure FTP speed things up? (give me > 8mb/sec)?

I think so.
I just upgraded to 9.11 and my earlier 9.04 version i ftp'd with speeds of 20Mb/s or higher but now with 9.11 and sftp i get 1Mb/s, so quite a difference.

I am not good at linux so instructions how to get high network transfer speeds in an easy way is appreciated.

use vsftpd
"apt-get install vsftpd"
should be able to FTP into your xbmc box with default user name and password or root.
(to access command line press ctrl+alt+f3 (also works with f1-f6))
