Mac Mini with GMA450, upgrade to intel T7200 2GHz
OSX 10.4
xbmc 9.04.1

I have noticed that even with xbmc at the menu screen (no movies/music playing) that the fan speed will stay high. System Monitor shows no cpu activity. When I close xbmc, the fan slows down and I notice the temperatures reduce also.

Could this be the GPU keeping the temperature up?
Any thoughts or anyone else notice this?

"System Monitor shows no cpu activity", not sure I believe this. Run 'top' from the command-line.
