[Apple TV] XBMC Exited with status 5 on startup
#1
Hi, I've been using XBMC for a while on the ATV and things began to get a little slow on menu refresh, scrolls, and so on so I decided to upgrade from 9.0.4.1 to the latest SVN bulid (23060) via the installer (3.1).

My sequence was:
1) Update the installer
2) Update XBMC
3) run XBMC - Exited with error 5 on startup, never get to the main screen
4) Reboot - Try again, same problem
5) Update Boxee just to see if it fixed things, but no luck

I tried deleting the userdata folder in case an older setting was messing up the new installation, but no luck either.

Here are the logs:

Console.log

Crashreporter.log

XBMC.log

Any idea what might be the issue?

Thanks!

Mine failed as well on the mini... so, even though the newest svn's are compiling now--might want to use a build from August 20th or earlier.

Yep, build 23078 is doing the same on my Apple TV. Thought I'd check it out before ordering any broadcom hardware Wink as from what I've read this should support it (err alledgedly Wink)

is there a known working build that may support additional ATV hardware (if any were to exist of course?)

Well, I tried different versions and 22528 seems to be working OK on my ATV. My 5.1 digital output is back, movies playback fine... so far so good. Transparency 2.01 also works OK with this build... I guess I'll stick to it until 9.1 if it keeps running smooth!

Now I'm rebuilding the library (400+ movies) as I deleted the Userdata folder, and see what happens to performance. I hope it keeps going...

23149 is exiting with a status 5 at the moment as well. It looks like they have something in the code that AppleTV isn't liking ATM. No matter, I will just keep taking the build back to 9.04.1 to resurrect my machine.

Cheers,
Winkie

I just updated on my 2.4 Apple TV and got error 5. I used the launcher to update, selected the latest build, it startedd to download 55mb after that the update script started and completed without error. I rebooted to see if it helps but no luck.

Is there any quick fix or we need to wait for a new build. I guess we can go back to old build.

Builds from TheQuestor will not run under OSX 10.4 or the AppleTV. The build is against 10.5 SDK which is wrong for those platforms. There is no simple fix.

Your post count just passed 300, "fan" > "senior member".
