Mass Movie Import: which aren't picked up

that's what i meant with recursion - you need to enable recursive scans so it will look in those folders!

Resursive search at set content is enabled Smile

and no scan by folder name i assume?

Yes, scan by folder name is on because that is necessary for most of my movies. Because the folder names are correct but the filenames are truncated.

A mess i know Smile

well, then the folder names in question are '3. Movie' - no wonder its not finding anything!

yes, that is why I asked if its possible to add a extra rule that makes it also look in:
2. Movie
3. Movie
Just like xvids are picked up with CD1 and CD2 subfolders, even with folder name searching on.

no. you can hack it in yourself or make your directories sane. that is way way too exotic and unusual for it to slow down everybody's scans.

I wasn't expecting xbmc to change at core level. I just hoped there was something to be done at the scraper level or advancedsettings.xml. I guess I'm going to sane my directories then, thanks for your help and patience spiff Smile

After a gruesome linux command I sanitized my folders, all movies are now picked up!

I still have a question open:
flxfxp Wrote:Ok, last question.
The wiki says this:
Clean Video Library
"Cleaning up the Video Library (removing invalid entries and compressing) can be done via the User Interface Settings, in the Videos Settings with the 'Clean Library' option."

I assume that it also removed dead links? Because I just removed a folder containing a movie but it remains in the list, even after cleaning the library.

that's no good - it should definitely remove entries. you can consistently reproduce this?

btw you may want to have a look at <cleanonupdate> in advancedsettings.xml.

I tried this, and I tried doing it manually. I can reproduce this consistently. Reproduction steps:
1. add movie to database
2. physically remove the movie
3. clean database or reboot if advancedsettings.xl has <cleanonupdate> on.
4. movie is still there

Just tried this on 3 machines. All running r23422 (compiled 5 oct 2009)

I also noticed that its terribly slow for scanning new content, takes up to 6 minutes. Would it happen to hang on something? Where can I check this?
