hey all. darkie's aqtplayer has gotten me thinking about the other site with lots of movies i view: adcritic.com.
you have to have a membership to view movies from the site (i do), but i've been looking around and here seems to be the state of things:
they have no xml feeds.
10-15 spots are indexed on front page, but require membership to view.
all "latest spots" are indexed in an html file at http://www.adcritic.com/latest.
all movies are qt movies embedded in individual html files. they are given a title and a brand name.
the actual .mov files are located at urls derived from their display names. i think these may be directly accessible without a user name and pw. for most movies, the pattern is this:
http://http.dvlabs.com/adcritic/{first letter for brand}/{second letter of brand}/{third letter of brand}/{brand name}-{titlewithundercoredspaces}.mov
so for a spot for fcuk called "denim range", the url is
http://http.dvlabs.com/adcritic/f/c/u/fc..._range.mov
what i am wondering is if darkie's script might be modified to parse adcritic's html pages and play the movies either by stripping the movie url from the html or recreating it based on the display names.
i'm not too familar with python but i just wanted to see if it was possible before i started trying...
again, i have a membership to adcritic and i'm not interested in exploiting their system. just would like to watch all the commercial through my xbox, if i can.
