Yes with dvbviewer's recording service it works that way with a older ver of XBMC! (since its broken in 9.11) Hope someone will fix it soon!
My set up
Win 2003 server with dvbviewer's recording service , streams live tv and recordings throu UpNp tom my HTPC with XBMC and 2 old Xbox with XBMC
No epg or schedule recording, only change channel and watch.
If you want to schedule recordings you do that from your pc (not xbmc) with the webservice in dvbviewer's recording.

Is there any way to have real TV interface in xbmc, while streaming from another server such as mythtv or mediaportal?
I saw some plugins, but those are just directory-like browsing, i need real TV interface with easy switching channels and full guide.
Are there any plans to implement feature like that? I need just interface, other can be streamed from separate TV server. And there is probably server for each platform, so it should not be a problem.

That is exactly what is being developed in pvr-testing branch. Search the forum about that.

Just a thought...
Would it be easier in Windows, to implement a USB solution rather than develop stuff to support the variety of PC cards? I have a cheap USB tuner but not sure how to interface to XBMC. I'll give it a try anyway this week and see if I can fiddle about somehow.
(Freecom DVB-T Analog USB Stick)
I don't want to use this in the long run as I am going to look at getting a freesat USB but I am guessing that USB is USB so it might not matter.
It would be good to have a 'sticky' on XBMC TV for windows. I looked at Myth but not into compiling the source, but at least it is an option for the brave !
