Digital Clock Screensaver?
#16
I landed at this old post seeking the same simple clock screensaver for my XBMC application. Another result from my search was more fruitful, as it seems that a user named brantje (who appears to also have an account on these forums) has created an XBMC addon screensaver for just this purpose.

I didn't have good luck with it, as it made XBMC crash immediately after launching, but maybe someone with a different setup could still give it a try and see if they have better luck. Here's my rig:

AMD FX-4100 3.60 GHz (4X Core)
8.00 GB 1066MHz
NVidea GeForce 210 4GB 1.5GHz
Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1 (64-bit)
XBMC Frodo 12.2
Aeon Nox 4.0

I also second that idea. A clock screen saver for XBMC that I can have on the Pi would be fantastic.

I'd love a clock screensaver for Android so my re-puposed phone, which is now an XBMC bathroom radio, would be even more useful. Or if I could keep XBMC running while the normal daydream activated, that would be cool.

This forum is the first result in a google search, so sorry for reviving an old thread.

I just found, installed and tested on a Raspberry Pi DudeHere's Digital Clock Screensaver. It works perfectly and does exactly what has been described by the original poster.

That's terrific. Thanks for posting the link. I just tried it out, too and it's really helpful. I'd like it even better if the settings included font size so it would be even more useful for a clock-radio use case, but this is a great improvement. (I'd still also like Kodi on Android to simply allow daydream to be used when no media is playing, but this is a great step in the right direction.)

Small update on the Digital Clock Screensaver. I see all works great on my Windows box, but on my Android tablet the time does not update. Maybe I have a glitch on my end or maybe this will be fixed in a later release.

Further update on the Digital Clock Screensaver. The Android version is updating the time correctly now.
