The bug hasnt been fixed yet, no Smile so for now 10.4 would be the way to go. There are probably workarounds to get the remote working, but it's painfull and requires time/skill. Non of which i got hehe

Samsung ES7005 55" led tv - Denon AVR-3313 - NAD C275BEE - B&W DM683 - B&W HTM61 - B&W 686
Asus EB1501P ION2 - OCZ Vertex 2 64gb ssd - Built in IR Receiver
And a Logitech Harmony Touch to control it all. http://www.OpenELEC.tv

And my lircd.conf seems to become empty every time i reboot now, is it supposed to do that?

I was about to get a zotac zbox hd-id11 and found a relly good deal on the EB1501P what's the consensus about the version of xbmc to run on it. Is an installed live the best or would i be better using the windows 7 version? or ubuntu 10.10 with xbmc installed?

Also whats the performance like with emulators?

if you're just gonna use it for xbmc i'd go for ubuntu 10.4, as the remote wont work in 10.10. no idea how it performs with emulators, havent tried it.

Yeah i figured that one out yesterday, it's been very quick to set up so far as well much better than a few years ago. All i need to do now is settle on a skin and get all my media imported properly.

Still no solution for the remote with ubuntu 10.10? I really don't want to reinstall everything with 10.04...

it might be worth trying a sudo apt get update and upgrade to see if any of the bugs have been fixed. there was an update to 10.04 which affected ircd and caused my remote to stop working until i reapplied my settings.

This issue will be solved in the next build of openelec. So i would atleast advice you to try it out. openelec is a tiny linux distro with xbmc and the basic needs around just that. It's fast, it's simple and quite genious. http://www.openelec.tv

True. Do you know where the bug is anyway? can you link to it on trac somewhere either here or ubuntu?
