you might need to "sudo chmod +s /usr/bin/top"

Basically, CPU is being saturated when playing those video files. Not much you can do. I seem to remember the problem ones having five ref frames while the others having 3 refs frames.

Here's the xbmc.log file when I try to play a movie and get no sound. PPC G5, 10.5.8.

I'm not sure if my input matters since I dont have a log, but im using Alpha 911 on my ATV and I also do not get any audio...

Just using HDMI straight to the TV, dont have a recieve or any of that stuff... Im soooooo glad its an error on xbmc's side, it took me a couple hours to realize this! Thought my ATV was going bad, phew! Smile

looks like 911.a1, give 911.a2 a try. there were changes in digital audio.

That's somehow good news. It means that AAC encoded 5.1 stream can be passed to AV receiver theoretically on OSX/coreaudio.

So basically if I'd rip the video stream off and leave the audio in with AAC 5.1 the ATV CPU should be able to play it fine. I might give a try and play with it today. I can send you the logs and maybe the video sample.

Davilla, thanks for taking care of it so far.

Sorry, still no sound.

Here's how to reproduce. Rip a move. Use handbrake to convert a chapter, using only AC3 pass through sound. Play with XBMC.
