Video card for Linux + XBMC
#1
Hi

I've got a 780G motherboard with a 4850e processor that I was hoping to turn into a HTPC, when I upgrade my current PC.

I thought that being a 780G with UVD I would have no trouble playing 1080P content using XBMC and Linux. I have since learnt that the Linux drivers don't support this functionality, which leaves my CPU high and dry as it won't cope with 1080P.

I am now searching for a nVidia device that will do 8 channel LPCM and take on the video decoding duties. I've stumbled across the the GT210 and GT220 cards (look at them because they have HDMI, 8 channel and VP3), but they seem overpriced considering what they are. What else will do me what I require?

Thanks

Thanks for vouching for the GT220, I just wasn't sure it was going to be the best option, but my research does point in that direction.

Cheers
