Showcase animations choppy

The showcase animations in MediaStream are pretty choppy/jerky on my system - even with fan-art turned off. This gets worse as I add more movies to my library - with only a few movies, it runs ok.

I really like the look of the showcase, but would definitely be willing to do without some of the animations if that would make for a smoother experience. Does anyone know if there is there anyway that I can either fix the choppiness, or opt out of the zoom animations?

I'm running XBMC on a core 2 duo @ 2GHz, with 2GB RAM (running windows vista).

Try MediaStream Redux, it has background loading of images which should help your problem. The original MediaStream does not have background loading.
