Hi,
I have a series of dvd backups (meaning the .TS .VOB files on disk) of cartoon movies.
Since the naming is in portuguese and most of them are quite old I had to go through each one of those to manually choose the thumbs and info, since none of the scrapers was able to "find" them.
Those movies are in a remote computer used just as file server on a NTFS partition. The folder with those movies is shared through windows and we have maped a drive on the computer with xbmc.
Today when we turn on the computer the file server was down and so, the mapped drive was off. We run XBMC and, of course, no movies there.
We mapped again the drive (on the same letter), run again xbmc and the source folder was still gone. We added it again but the movie info is not there.
I made a backup of programs/xbmc since I used this for saving the info and made a re-scan without any success.
Any clues on what I should do... ?
Thx in advance

If the path changes (ie different drive letter) the cached thumbs will find no match and will not show up. So make sure you are using the same drive letter as originally.
If you get things working again, I suggest you export your library to indivudual files, in case you mess up again the thumbs are safely stored with the media: http://www.xbmc.org/wiki/?title=Import_-...rt_options Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting. The drive it's on the same letter.
That was the first thing I checked. Is there a file or folder that I could check to see if the info content is still there ? If the content is gone I better start again and follow your advice. Thx. |

Thumbnails under Userdata contains the cached thumbs, but they have a hashed filename so matching them to a file can be a nightmare.

Since I'm doing this just for my kid (he's 4 years old) I decided to rename the dvd folders to the IMDB name of the movies or similar. The important thing is to show some image that allow him to choose what he wants to see.
However I'm finding that unless I go folder by folder and retrieve a thumb manually the images don't appear when listing the folders with Thumbs/dvd cover or similar (although the scraper identifies the movie correctly). Note that I'm using File mode and the default skin. Any advice on a skin or config that would allow that automatically? Thx in advance. |

Create a library and scan automatically, then you should get all correct thumbs.
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=38964 There nothing that says you have to use library mode afterwards, but why not since you have it working? There are helper programs you can run on your PC you can use to achieve this, I have no personal experience with them Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
