How to reset keyboard layout?
#1
Hi!

Newbie here, fresh from Bill Gates's womb.

I have just installed XBMC live onto a revo 330, my wireless is not working so I was trying to fix it in the terminal but the keyboard layout is wrong, loads of letters missing i.e: Q W E R U..... therefore I cannot type 'sudo' of course. How do I fix this? I have looked all over the internet and it all refers to typing in commands I cant due to the missing letters, or downloads I can't due to the wireless problem!

I would be very grateful for any help...

I guess this is the problem with open source s/w that relies on communal support.

I have put a lot of effort into trying to find the answer to this, but I just cant, please someone! Help!

If I cannot type commands in the terminal how the hell can I change the keyboard layout again? I have seen talk of virtual k/boards but I cant use the terminal or internet to get it, so it looks like I will have to just go back to windows. I cannot use a OS that relies on communal support but leaves me with no options at early hurdles. If I want to spend the rest of my life figuring out how to do the most basic of things like typing the letter 'U' I'll be back. A real shame as I was looking forward to really getting involved with linux.

This sounds like an OS specific problem and since you mentioned "sudo" I'll assume that you are using ubuntu. Perhaps http://ubuntuforums.org is the place to ask?

I found this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=434641 It might help with the missing "u".

EDIT: Btw...is the keyboard working if you plug it in to a Windows box?
