Version & Hard Drive Suggestions

Hey all,
Looking to setup XBMC on my media center.

I was wondering what version would be suggested for an install that I plan to run solely on a USB drive.

Also, any recommendations for a fast, reliable USB stick to use as the base OS 24/7? I was looking at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/det...R&v=glance

Thoughts?

Thanks

I know this USB stick to be fast.

For you external USB drive I would suggest you a WesternDigital MyBook. Those drives are really quiet and fast.

You do realise that Flash drives have a finite number of READS as well as Writes?

This might not be of significant concern to you, or you might have a setup that loads from USB to HD or RAM then actually runs from there.... but if you're actually going to run from the USB per se, then it will diminish the lifetime of your USB drive (assuming it's flash).

Just thought I'd mention this in case you're not au fait with these facts.

For my own system, I have a portable installation of XBMC that I can run from USB stick, but it will first copy to HD then remove when completed (for performance and durability).
