XBMC under WINDOWS 7, runtime error
#1
Hi there,

I installed win 7 today and one of the first thing I did was to install XBMC ofc.
However, when I try to start it I get the following error:

Image

I've tried searching the forums but I only find solutions involving changing the gpu drivers, but they are newly installed and fully functional (in every other app/game so far). I'm currently using GeForce Forceware 190.38 Vista and Win 7 (64-bit) WHQL driver.

I'm using Nightly build r25010 and no skins installed yet. I have a Q9550 2.83GHz processor, 4GB ram, running windows 7 professional 64-bit.

This is my debug log:

Please come with suggestions on how I can try to make XBMC work for me. If I've missed some information, please do tell and I'll edit the post asap.

Thanks in advance,

Create an advancedsettings.xml file (in your userdata folder - the log shows you where that is) containing:

Code:
<advancedsettings>
  <loglevel>2</loglevel>
</advancedsettings>

Then grab the log - it will hopefully contain some more information.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.

OK, here is the log after the change in advancedsettings:

i had to download dxwebsetup and run it before I installed xbmc and I believe there is a dll file you also need to install.. do a search for windows 7 and you will find what you need..

dxwebsetup is included in the beta build and you need a working internet connection during installation.

Same here...
Windows 7
Intel E5300
Nvida geforce 9300/nforce 730i

*UPDATE*

I got it to work
Ive found that you can start it from C:\programm (x86)\Xbmc\xbmc.exe

If you push the windows bottom and choose properties at XBMC (portable) and in target field remove -p and apply.

Sorry but i don't understand where -p is.. Can you explain better? I open .exe properties but i see only XBMC.exe in properties without any -p. Thank you bye

On the desktop.

Push the windows logo botton down to the left.

Find xbmc folder and right click on "xbmc portable" and choose propertis.

In the target field should say ""C:\programs (x86)\xbmc.exe" -p"
(If you have installed it on c: )

Remove -p and apply

and the holy grail will unveil

I had the same problem when trying to launch XBMC from the start menu or the quick launch icon. But when using xbmc.exe directly from the XBMC folder, it works just fine. I created a shortcut to the desktop and launch it from here

Sounds like you all have an old shortcut with the -p switch on it. Remove it.
