Got exacly same problem...

Just installed XBMC 9.11 , first time user, so fresh install

Music plays fine, but when playing videos, the sound comes out OK, but there's no image, only white screen. But, during playback, when you press "info" (Using my Xperia x10 to remote controll) and the info showsup, the thybnail shows picture from the movie.

Runing on Windows XP sp2...

The white screen means your video card does not support the Pixel Shader 2 API required by the DirectX builds of XBMC. There is no fix for this. You need to either get a new video card or use an OpenGL build of XBMC instead.

Try the OpenGL build at xbmcmce.sourceforge.net to see if it works. If you want a more recent build search the XBMC for Windows Specific Support forum as several people provide OpenGL builds of the development code.
