[LIVE] HOW-TO upgrade from XBMC Live BETA/RC1 to 9.11 (Camelot) Final
#16
I havn't heard any complaints yet. I'm just wondering if anyone has tried
Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
one Camelot RC1 yet. I don't want to destroy my copy if it does not work.

So I have been using ubuntu for about 10 minutes now and I have no clue what I am doing.

But I have followed the instructions on Wiki for xbmc install and they work fine, until the last step.

I mark XBMC standalone for install, mark changes and I get the following error:

xbmc-standalone:
Depends: xbmc-common (= 9.11~beta1-karmic2)
Depends: xbmc-skin-pm3-hd but it is not going to be installed
Depends: xbmc-web-pm3 (=9.11~beta1-karmic2) but 1:9.11-karmic1 is to be installed

PLEASE help

It didn't work for me, xbmc does not boot and I get this after I tried to upgrade

Code:
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
xbmc: Depends: xbmc-data (= 1:9.11-jaunty1) but it is not installed
xbmc-skin-confluence: Depends: xbmc-data (= 1:9.11-jaunty1) but it is not installed
xbmc-skin-pm3-hd: Depends: xbmc-data (= 1:9.11-jaunty1) but it is not installed
xbmc-standalone: Depends: xbmc-data (= 1:9.11-jaunty1) but it is not installed
xbmc-web-pm3: Depends: xbmc-data (= 1:9.11-jaunty1) but it is not installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.

and no one has responded on how to fix it yet.

Thanks, good idea. Do I need to undo what I have done so far?

Hold on, I want the standalone app so I can still run pytivo on this.

Won't doing it that way prevent this?

OK, I am sure I am annoying, but now I have xbmc standalone installed, but not common.

I get the error

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/xbmc-common_9.11~beta1-karmic2_i386.deb: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/xbmc/visualisations/opengl_spectrum.vis', which is also in package xbmc-bin 1

the live cd will format your drive and install xbmc live. You can install software after that.

That's not rc1. that's B1 and b2. apt-get update works in RC1. I wasn't going to try upgrade unless someone else went first.

The new Live Camelot full is out now, as of tonight I guess. So I'm burning the CD now. I'll try installing it and see if it works then.

Mine did this as well, but then I upgraded the NVIDIA drivers using the steps of post #5 of this thread. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=442452

Even after the upgrade though, it still shows 9.041 so it didn't work for me. At least I can still use XBMC though.

ichAlex Wrote:hey, im using 9.04 live and i followed your instructions. i used putty to SSH to the HTPC.

Then i rebooted it and when it says "Checking Battery" it just stops booting.

When i acces XBMC Safe mode it boots to the commandline, but it still say Ubuntu 9.04 XBMCLive tty1

so, what did i do wrong? is it still xbmc 9.04 or is that reffering to the ubuntu version#?
and why doesnt it boot completly?

edit: maybe i should mention that i first tried the aptitude script inside of xbmc's menu, and that it couldnt find new packages. also i should mention that i am a TOTAL linux n00b^^

Can anyone please confirm whether this will reset my WiFi settings? In other words, will I have to reconfigure my wireless LAN config?

Thanks

If anyone needs SSH here is where I found it, I downloaded the Zip.

Hi zlooo!

How is it configured your /etc/apt/sources.list.d/xbmc.org.list?

Ok, I've updated XBMC to 9.11 Camelot (from Beta 2). My wireless LAN and remote control works as they did, but I no longer have access to SMB networks. I can access the SMB network using my home computer, but cannot by XBMC (which is installed on my Revo).

Any help would be much appreciated.

*Edit: I've tried to reinstall the SMB drivers using
Code:
sudo apt-get install samba
but it tells me it's already installed and that I have the latest version.
